“No water, no life. No blue, no green.”
– Sylvia Earle
The ocean is not background. It is structure, pressure, and time. Abyssal considers what lies beneath the visible surface, where weight accumulates slowly and form is shaped by forces that are constant and unseen.
The Abyssal Collection
The Abyssal Collection is a series of mixed media works inspired by geological and biological processes occurring in the deepest regions of the ocean — places shaped by immense pressure, slow movement, and unseen forces.
Drawing from phenomena such as tectonic rifts, mineral seeps, hydrothermal vents, and bioluminescent life, each piece explores a different state of emergence beneath the surface. Layered textures, fractured strata, and fluid transitions echo the ways matter shifts, releases, and reforms over time.
Rather than depicting the ocean literally, the collection reflects its underlying systems — compression and rupture, stillness and drift, darkness and quiet radiance. Together, the works invite slow observation and contemplation of environments that exist beyond human visibility, yet shape the world in fundamental ways.
This series is perfect for collectors drawn to moody, immersive art.
